Attempting My First Fashion/Make-up Blog

For those of you who know me and those of you who don't.... I'm a 32 year old wife to a loving husband and mother to two beautiful babies.  I love to sing for the Lord and I absolutely LOVE my job.  That being said I also absolutely LOVE fashion and make-up.

With me being an optometric assistant at Better Vision in Fayetteville, NC; I come into contact with people on a daily basis who ask "Do you think these glasses look good on me?" or "Would these colored contacts look good with this make-up," So I have decided to give my advice and insight on all things related to eyes and to enhance our God given beauty.

SO as this blog goes I would just like to pour out my vast array of knowledge to you.  It will be my goal to keep up to date on the fashion industry and how it coincides with what's new in the world of eyes.

Here are my Top 8

  1. Dark Shadows:  Avoid the Smokey eye makeup when wearing glasses because too much dark eye shadow under the glasses can make your eyes seem way too dark.
  2. Liner that matches your frames:  Sometimes when matching liner to your frames it can make your eyes blend in to the frame and not stand out.  Instead try and choose a liner that is a shade or two lighter than your frame and blend the eyeliner with a cotton swab to give a less harsh look.
  3. Not curling your lashes:  Make sure you're curling your lashes from the root to the tip before you begin applying mascara.  This will help to make your eyes look wider.
  4. Mascara on your bottom lid:  Best thing in this situation is to just skip this step.  :)  Sometimes dark lashes plus the frame can cast a shadow on the part of your face that already tends to be dark, making you look tired.
  5. Ignoring your skin: A good rule of thumb is to always make sure your face is smooth with added concealer when needed for those unwanted blemishes and dark circles.  This helps to keep the emphasis on your eyes!!
  6. Anything Besides Yellow Concealer: For those days when your eyes seem a little extra tired and the circles under your eyes just won't go away, make sure you opt for a yellow shade of concealer to really cover the eye.  Especially when wearing glasses this will help keep you looking fresh.
  7. Thin with Thick:  Remember this; when wearing thick frames opt for thick eyeliner  and thin frames with a thin eyeliner.  Never mix the two which can either over-exaggerate or under exaggerate your eyes in a very bad way.
  8. Forgetting Your Brows: A lot of times we put so much emphasis on what's behind the glasses that we forget what's around them.  Always make sure your eyebrows are brushed and tweezed properly because this frames the frame! :)
